On Sunday 28th August, Portglenone CCE was represented at the All Ireland
Fleadh Cheoil Na hEireann
in Letterykenny by a group of musicians who played several sets of tunes and songs
on the 'Gig Rig' in the middle of town centre. Supported by their family
and friends, the group played to an exceptionally high standard despite the
weather conditions which slowly got more miserable as time went on. However, it
failed to dampen the musicians spirit and eventually did brighten up towards the
end of the groups set as they finished with a
lively set of reels.
Well done to Grainne Magill, Maureen McCann and Eimear Graham who put the
group through their paces during rehearsals and sorted out the tunes for the
set. Many thanks to Kieran Convery who helped out with the arrangements for the
set and for his encouragement and support. Thanks also to Eamon Graham for
organising practise sessions and opening up for rehearsals. Finally and most of all,
thanks to
parents, family members and friends who brought everyone to and from practises and of
course for travelling over to Letterkenny and showing their support during the 'gig on the rig'.
